Remember All Who Served

Wayne Newton head of the USO. Navy Blue Angel. A rainbow for the promise. A grave stone for the killed in camps ww2. JFK died here Neely Plaza Dallas Tx.

This is Memorial Day. Just a note to say thank you to all who served in War in Peace and for the love of this Great Nation and to all who served for their own Countries for World Peace.

As a Star Trek fan I loved the show about the future because it did show their was hope that we could all live as one and need not invade for the sake of invading to destroy and cause so much pain and suffering.

I had the pleasure of meeting a few of the players and heard how it affected their lives to know that at least the idea we are all created equal could happen.

Blessing to all and think Peace.

Blue Angels

These pictures were sent to me by a friend of Retired Capt Flores of the USN.

I saw them a few weeks ago and was quite impressed with the flying skills displayed by the team. The pictures are so breathtaking it took me 6 hours to figure how to download them. Of course my computer skills are so slim they would disappear along with my memory if I did not play on the computer a lot since I retired.

Of course if you want to get cute My German is almost as good as my computer skills. right EW ?

Saturday Fishing

These pictures have nothing to do with this story, just a few of my favorite shots.

Over the weekend my two oldest grandsons entered a fishing contest and won 1st and 3rd prize. When I heard it. I thought of my Dad taking Eric and his brother camping and fishing when they were about the same age.

When they came home after a week of camping on the lake with him. the suitcase was a little fishy smelling and to put it bluntly I put it outside the house to ease the odor. Later in life it could have been compared to a hockey players bag after a season or two with not washing the equipment pads and closed up, except for the games.

The oldest is 14 and was very excited about the prize, one of the first he had ever won and when I told his Dad, shock was in his voice "I never would have believed He would even want to enter a fishing contest must less win.

Bryce Canyon Utah

The beauty of this place is something to behold. Sandstone eroded over centuries and formations beyond the imagination.

Just a few pictures to show where I was this time last year. This is located in southern Utah. It is close to Neveda and Arizona. The Western United States is some of the most beautiful and breath taking places I have ever seen and I have only begun to visit it in the last few years.

I have seen the Alps and the mountains of Alaska and it still stands out in my memory as a great place to visit.

My Other Mom

Last year we lost a lady who had been close to my heart. She was one of the steadfast people that I knew when growing up.

She was married to my Dad's brother and had 4 children. Two sons and two daughters. They we close to my age and when Dad and Uncle left to go hunting, fishing and other guy stuff, Dad always drove up and dumped me off on her. She took it in stride and was always kind and beautiful to a growing child.

My Mom was usually working, helping others, or somewhere who knows what kind of a mission she was on half the time. Figure out who was sick, having a baby, or needed her. She was there. Including working several jobs to help support all of us.

Mrs Bonnie had a long life. Some happy times and a lot of sad times. She lost one of her children to lung cancer in 2000. She broke her hip in the 90's and never really recovered from it. She had a mild heartattack in 2001 and was never far from home after that.

She would have loved to travel, but never made it. She did take a trip to California in the 80's and talked about all the beauty of the desert and flying in an airplane over this vast land. Her sister and niece took her many places in the state.

Whenever I left on a trip She always wanted to know where I had been and what all I had seen. She loved to get letters or cards from the trips so I always tried to send her something. One trip I called her from Alaska and Her daughter said she talked about it for weeks.

She remained a well loved Christian and the people of the church came to see her often. She was usually upbeat and happy and shared stories of her life in a funny story or made it seem you were there. The ghost story of Coopers Plantation stands out in my mind. It was never a type of tale the family told, but going by the old mansion place when she was little girl' she swore you could hear a moaning and crying of a slave some one had beaten to death. War between the States period not this century.

I was with Her and the night she passed away another old tale told me it would probably be that night. The moon had a blood red circle around it. I had never been with anyone who passed away and it was sad but she was ready to go.

New Chauffer

Wonder how so many people drive so nutty? It could be cell phone usage or maybe a good chauffer could help. At least He could see over the steering wheel, Miss Rose is always trying to drive, but I tell her she has to wait until she can see where she is going.

This car was parked at the store and when I saw the driver waiting for the owner it was so funny I had to share it with you.

The frog was for the wooden indian Eric picked up at World of Disney a good many years ago. Family jokes sometime get out of hand and we end up with some very funny pictures.

The other pictures are just some of my favorite places.
