Cowboys Aren't Sheepherders

Route 26-789 Wyoming

Believe it or not this is the intersection where I first saw cowboys on all terrian vechiles. Very disappointing, in Utah I had seen a herd of cows with real cowboys herding them. If you could maginify the black spots in one of the pictures its cows and the larger black spot is an atv with some guy on it.

This road is sort of in the middle of the state and just past this intersection was a beautiful river. the surrounding area was like looking at a desert. The colors of the cliffs soon gave way to snow! I was driving up into the Rockies on the lower side of Jackson HOle Wyoming and another part of the roll of film had where the forest had burned.

Did you ever wonder how come most of the trees in a forest are the same or similar heights? When the forest burns, the lodge pole pines pop their seeds and the whole forest comes alive. Sad to see the burnt part but the reforestion is a mircle in action by Mother Earth.

Peace and joy

  • That's funny. I read once that Smokey Bear caused most of the huge forest fires these days, because the campaign was so successful that necessary controlled fires were outlawed in a lot of states. That, of course, leaves a lot of kindling on the ground that starts the big fires. The occasional lIttle fires are necessary to prevent to the big ones, kind of like life.
